The youth camp will be held daily July 3-6, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Quality Inn Corner Brook, with two concerts taking place on the evenings of July 5 and July 6, featuring guest choirs from the National Choral Community!T his camp is open to all youth, grades 1-12 (as of September 2018).

Jennifer Beynon – Martinec, B. Mus., B. Ed., M. Mus., is a Ph.D. candidate in Interdisciplinary Studies in Music, Medicine and Education at Memorial University. She has been a member of several prestigious performance ensembles, including the World Youth Choir and the Juno-nominated Canadian Chamber Choir. Jennifer has been a clinician, adjudicator, choral conductor and vocal pedagogue for over fifteen years in both Canada and Europe, working with singers from infancy to elder years. She has held conducting positions with St. Michael’s Choir School, the Amabile Boys & Men’s Choirs, the Bach Children’s Choir, and the Czech Boys Choir, and has been a voice and choral lecturer at Charles University (Prague) and Memorial University (St. John’s & Corner Brook). Jennifer prepared soloists and/or conducted the Czech Boys Choir on four CD’s produced by Pueri Auri (2011), Kings Production (2008) and Supraphon (2007), one DVD (2006) and has toured the United States, Canada and Europe professionally. Jennifer was awarded the Don Wright Scholarship for Vocal Music (Western), the Lloyd Bradshaw Scholarship in Choral Conducting (Toronto) and most recently the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship (SSHRC). She has developed the highly successful ‘Musicking Tots’ philosophical and pedagogical music education program which has been offered in Europe and Canada. Currently, Jennifer is the artistic director of the Atlantic Vocal Ensembles, co-director of the Atlantic Boychoir, and a choral specialist at both Immaculate Heart of Mary School and the Graham Academy in Corner Brook, NL. Jennifer is thrilled to be coordinating the GMSM Choral Festival this summer.
Gary Graham has spent the last 50 years teaching in Corner Brook. He grew up in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and attended Acadia University, University of Alberta, and McGill University. He is rewarded by his students, choirs, and community. He has been awarded the Order of Newfoundland, an Honourary Doctor of Laws by Memorial University, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, Canada’s Sesquicentennial Medal, and the theatre of the Corner Brook Arts and Culture Centre has been named in his honour.
