Back for their fifth summer with Gros Morne Summer Music, join Mena Lodge, Charlie Payne, and Darren Vincent for an evening of traditional Newfoundland music that will get you singing along, and your toes tapping!
Mena is a talented and experienced performer. As a singer/songwriter, she has many festivals and concerts to her credit. With two original CDs and one song featured in the movie, The Rowdyman, her powerful vocals suit a variety of musical styles. Her passionate live performances invite audiences to participate. As she says, “It’s all about the choir. Music is best when it’s shared.”
Darren is a self-taught guitarist from Corner Brook who plays various musical genres from rock to traditional music. He formed a local four-piece Classic Rock band called Newfound Frequency in 2015 and he plays with the talented band Midnite Skye also from Corner Brook. He is happy to be a part of Gros Morne Summer Music this year with Mena and Charlie.
Charlie is a self-taught accordion player, who started playing at about age twelve. He has toured NL for twenty-five years playing bass guitar with the rock band Union Station and country music with Uncle Harry’s Bar Band. As well, he has recorded three solo CDs of instrumental button accordion music. In 1999, he restored the Loyal Orange Lodge in Woody Point to what is now the Woody Point Heritage Theatre.
